RAF 95 Squadron George W. Gregory

On 16 January 1941, a detachment of three RAF Sunderlands from No. 210 Squadron at Pembroke Dock became No. 95 Squadron which flew its first boat out to Gibraltar early in February.

In memory of my father, 159861 Flt/Lt George "Tiddler" Gregory and the men he served with. Although in a reserved occupation as an Underwriter at Lloyds of London, George, like many others, joined up to fight for their country and our freedom..

Formed on 16th January 1941 at Pembroke Dock amd after flying patrols, the Squadron, initially with with 3 Sundererlands, began to arrive at its base in Freetown, Sierra Leone in March of that year,to begin anti-submarine patrols over the South Atlantic.

In March 1943, No. 95 moved to Gambia, operating detachments from Sierra Leone, Dakar, Liberia and Port-Etienne Mauritania for the rest of the war. The Squadron disbanded On 30 June 1945.
